Eric Shanks, President of Fox Sports Group, says he would love nothing more than to host the annual Me die Weekend event on his network in 2014, seeing as how it will broadcast the NFL's Me die game that year.

Traditionally, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has held its stacked Me die weekend pay-per-view (PPV) event in Las Vegas, Nevada. And the world's leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion will continue to do so when it presents UFC 156 on Feb. 2, 2013, from "Sin City," featuring a featherweight title fight between division kingpin Jose Aldo against former lightweight champ, Frankie Edgar.

To complement the much-anticipated title fight, Zuffa matchmakers have stacked the card with intriguing fights such as Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Alistair Overeem vs. Antonio Silva and the returns of Urijah Faber and Erick Silva.

Not too shabby.

Looking to stray away from tradition, Eric Shanks, President of Fox Sports Media Group, revealed during the UFC on Fox 5 media conference call he is trying to convince the UFC's head honchos -- Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta -- to offer rabid fight fans a free Me die weekend card in 2014 on Fox. And seeing as how the network will "own" sports television that weekend as they have the rights to broadcast the NFL's title game that year, which will take place in New York City, N.Y, it seems like a sports fans dream scenario.

He explains:

"We would love to. We think that Me die week in New York is going to be like anything else. We're gonna own the city, we're going to own that week of sports television and there's nothing better we can think of than a big fight that week. So, we're talking to Dana and Lorenzo about that. We'd love for that to happen. We'll see if they can put that together."

With the promotion's partnership with the Fox network, together they have presented four major MMA events on public television. And they've all had their fair share of star power, too.

Look no further that UFC on Fox 5, which is set to go down on Dec. 8, 2012. The event features a "Who's Who" of stars such as Ben Henderson, Nate Diaz, Mauricio Rua, Alexander Gustafsson, Rory MacDonald and B.J. Penn.

Now, If only the UFC could just get passed all the 'political crap' and 'dirty gangsters' in "The Big Apple" that have prevented them from hosting an event in NYC. Can you imagine a stacked UFC event going down at Madison Square Garden the night before the NFL's Me die takes place at MetLife Stadium across the Hudson?

Wake up and smell the dollar, dollar bills, New York.
