* Flyweight bout: United States Cesar Rodriguez, Jr. vs. United States Tommy GomezBackgroundIn the Main Event, after his unanimous decision victory over Joey Villasenor at Shark Fights 13, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Danillo Villefort (12-3-0) faces an equally dangerous opponent as he takes on Eddie Bravo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Matt Horwich (26-17-1), whose list of beaten opponents includes Thales Leites, Jason Lambert, Jake Rosholt, Benji Radach and other notable MMA fighters.
According to Shark Fights Promotions president Brent Medley, the promotion entered negotiations with a major network for a nationally televised deal. 'Big' John McCarthy will be the official referee in charge. On February 25th, it was revealed that Shark Fights had signed a deal with HDNet television and Shark Fights 14 will make its network debut on March 11th.
Houston Alexander vs. James Irvin was to be a rematch from their UFC Fight Night: Kenny Florian vs Joe Lauzon back in 2008, where Irvin knocked out Alexander 8 seconds into the first round with a superman punch. The 8-second knockout tied the record for fastest knockout in UFC history, until UFC 102 when Todd Duffee broke that record with a 7-second KO. The fight was cancelled on March 2nd due to a training injury suffered by Houston Alexander and a failed drug test by James Irvin.
A 125 lbs. women's bout between Tara LaRosa and Carina Damm is expected to serve as the new co-main event on the card.
