I think that Alves should probably either lose some muscle mass so he can make 170 on a consistent basis or move to 185 as Dana has alluded. Either way he needs to make a decision. He appears to lose so much by draining himself to such an extent before the fights. In the post-fight press conference following UFC 117, UFC president Dana White said in no uncertain terms that he wants Thiago Alves to move up to 185 pounds after having missed weight in two of his past four Octagon appearances. While White wouldn't say that the weight class move would be mandated, the UFC brass has clearly had enough of Alves's issues in making weight. I have selected 170 pounds as I feel he is much too short for the Middleweight division and can make 170 if he does it right. What do you guys think? |

I have to agree with you on that... He should loose some muscle and stay at 170... or else it would be like Manhoef, he is short and fights at 185, but his style is much more applicable than Alves' so yeah. cut some muscle, stay at 170 |

205! You serious? He is only 5`9. I doubt he'd have much success at LHW. |

I have never been a fan of weightcutting. Better 185. |
