Say what you want about third round, was it needed or not but I think that Justin was screwed party here.
After they said that it's over I thought he scored 10-8 in first round so that's why it's over but shit continues in UFC. Even if Roy deserved say 10-8 in second then first should be 10-7 as he was outclassed in first round.
I'm waiting for judges to come from MMA background as this is getting pointless.

The first round was 10-9 to justin wren. I don't think the beatdown was QUITE enough to justify a 10-8, but it was impressive.

The second round was 10-9 to Big Country. That's 19-19, folks.

Only one of the judges scored it 19-19 (and props to you, sir, for not being retarded). The two other judges gave both rounds to Roy Nelson.

I mentioned what was my first thought when they said that they have decision but I've seen 9s when they showed papers.

UFC should use us as judges, we have much more experience as we watch basiclly all MMA that we can get our hands on, and see the slomo repeates! He he.

Maybe they need a system with more judges and not the same idiots all the time, they seem to have lost interest and are judging their fat salaries insted of the fights.

Because this TUF fights are "exhibitions," wouldn't it be a good time to experiment with new scoring systems (e.g., announcing scores publicly after each round, overall winner system, etc.)?

Being a hockey fan in a minor league town, we constantly see the NHL try out their (mostly ridiculous) new ideas out all the time.

My personal TUF idea:

Even if a fighter loses two rounds in a row but it's super-close both rounds, why not go to a thrid. Instead of going off the scores, after the second round the judges could just be polled yes or no on a 3rd round. Then, after the third (if their is one), the scores are tallied. If the judges feel like the guy who lost the first two legitimately is still all there and has a shot at a KO win, let's see a third.

As far as regular fights go, I have a hard time with all scoring systems but I'd really like to see the scores announced after each round.

I'm torn. I like the 10 point must system as is, and I think the scoring criteria is pretty solid. The problem is the judges, who don't really know what they're looking at half the time.

Like Dent says, the judges (and referees for that matter) should be fans who know the ins and outs of MMA.

Apart from that a fair argument can be made that the Japanese system (whoever comes closer to finishing the fight at any point in the fight is the winner) works pretty well, but it doesn't cure crappy judges who can't tell arm bar from an overhand right.

Even dana white is pissed off now, specially after the judge named Griffin gave, yeah thats right, Griffin 30-27 winning all three rounds
