and so its over... the biggest ufc event ever and i think it lived up to the expectations...
the night started off with a flying triangle thanks to garza...
the way he rolled with it and kept working towards it was awesome to watch...
it was followed by a knockout spinning backfist courtesy of makdessi...
awesome to see especially since it came early in the 3rd out of nowhere...
next came a brilliant and quick sub from jason macdonald...
was good to see him come back strong after having such a bad break in his last...
the 4th fight was of course menjivars short elbow to break valencias nose...
the slow-mo replays of it were very educational...

quite possibly the best start to a ufc event i think...

i thought patrick could have done more to finish roberts...
sucks that his first fight in the ufc was a strong showing but he has gone to decision in his last 2... =\

then came the prelims on spike (or fuel tv here in australia)...

ellenberger looked good in his ko of pierson who i thought would do a little better...
just shows how underrated ellenberger has been lately... i learned my lesson last time i picked against him...
i like nate diaz and it sucked to watch him get owned by the waterboy...
but rory definitely did well and nate didnt really have an answer...

and now we start the main card... iiiiiiiiiits time!

henderson did well against bocek although i thought bocek won at least 1 of those rounds... =\
matyushenkos stunning 20 second ko of brilz was brutal... glad to see the janitor cleaning up again...
obviously everyone is gonna be talking about machidas karate kid crane kick to ko and de-tooth couture...
would have been nice for couture if he went out on a win instead of adding to someone elses highlight reel...
aldo looked strong at the start but basically got fucked by hominick in the end...
i reckon hominick could have stuck his dick in aldos ear in the 5th and aldo wouldnt have defended it...
but then again he probably knew he had the previous 3 or 4 rounds won so all he had to do was survive...
then there was the snoozefest that was the main event... i like jake shields and i wanted to see him do well...
perhaps even threaten gsp afew times... but i had no illusions that gsp would be the winner...
i just wish he didnt have to be so fucking boring about it though... he doesnt fight to win... he fights not to lose...
it would have been nice to see more than a spinning back kick and some lame double jab overhand right combo...
by the way... i dont train so i dont know what the fuck he was throwing...
but it was the same kick and combo over and over again...

my opinion... ufc 129 was a huge success... awesome fights!
even if the 2 championship fights lacked the sparks i had hoped for...
plus i picked 10 out of 12 fights so im hoping i might get another belt...

K-1 Shields won that fight.

GSP's face was busted up and he suffered a serious eye injury. Based on damage K-1 Shields easily won.

When will these judges learn how to judge properly. One judge even scored it 50-45 in GSP's favor! Outrageous. GSP tried the same combination about 30 times and landed it maybe 3 times.

K-1 Shields is WW champion in my eyes, plain and simple.

Just finished watching it all. Im almost speechless. The big screens looked amazing. What a massive amount of excellent fights too!

I think I need to watch the whole thing again before I can find words again

This was one of the best shows UFC has put on in a looooong time! It was exciting from the first prelim, to the almost end. I knew the main event would suck, so I wasn't suprised. You hit the nail on the head, GSP doesn't fight to win, he tries not to lose. Shields never did anything for me either so it turned out to be the snooze-fest I thought it would be. The Aldo fight was freakin great! That hematoma was nasty, and I was suprised the didn't stop it. I kept waiting for that nasty thing to pop. I was on the edge of my seat the final round, I thought Hominc was gonna pull it out!

I agree, this was a fantastic long night of great fights. Flying armbar ftw! Wow. And Aldo... medndez is gonna beat him? No way lol. Hes a beast even when tired he looked like a nightmare for Mark. Or rather, he made Mark look like a nightmare. lol.

I cant wait to rewatch some of the fights! Started with FB fights again last night As mentioned before, awesome from start!
