I love Rampage, even if it was a close decision he defenitely brings a special feeling to the fight. Lyoto was doing what he always does, avoids getting hit lol. It was a great fight, I was twisting and twitchng here while watching :mrgreen:

When BJ was walking out I said he looks different, like he was saying 'ok Im just gonna knock this dude the f out and go home, let me thrue' and I jumped when he did just that. All the talk about what BJ was gonna come to the fight... well the prodigy came! Im glad he got a boost, he really needed it. Wicked fight!

The rest of the event was overall really nice. I watched it with a lot of exitement. Awesome UFC!

What did you guys think of the event?

i thought it was pretty good...
apart from my picks getting fucked on the last 3 fights... :(
god damn bj penn... i mean good for him but im not really a penn fan...
and that brazilian dude falcao needs a talking to...
holding choke for too long at end of first... doing nothing in 3rd...
then getting angry and wanting to punch on after the bell... =\
overall i was happy though... only 3 decisions out of 11 fights...
and most of the fights were exciting finishes... :mrgreen:

by the way dent...

great event I was really looking forward to seeing Barboza make his debut and he didnt disappoint although he didnt get to show his brutal knockout power with his hands, his TDD and wrestling seems to have improved alot.

I think Griffin and Machida got robbed. would have won me 30GBs if it wasnt for them shitty judges... seriously they need to have better standards and education for the judges, the amount of crazy decisions is just riduculous.

Griffin was clearly robbed, I had Rampage winning first 2 rounds. I wouldn't say Machida got robbed, a couple leg kicks movement and 5-6 punches in the 3rd isnt gonna win you a fight. Glad to see BJ back to vintage form, i guess the camp changes made a difference the hilo boys got him fired up. Good card i was also twisitng and turning during co and main events.

Agreed...Tyson was mugged.

21 seconds to Knock hughes out..incredible, The card as a whole was great i thought bar the judges who got it wrong twice.

All the fighters put on a good show apart from Edson i think... i m a bit hazed as me and subvert celebrated B J Penn style...we rolled a lil green.

So I guess no one else noticed that the bell at the end of the first round came 2, no more than 3, seconds after the 10-second clappers?
That fight never should have gone to the 2nd round, in all honesty he should have been able to hold it for 5 or 6 seconds longer than he did and it was nap time for Harris.

I dont think Falcao needs a talking to. Off course he needs a talking to on holding the choke too long. But I also think that the commisioners need to make sure the fighters understand the different signals. However Joe Rogan said he needs a talking to, because of how he fought espicially the 3rd round. We have to remember that MMA is a sport and not all fights have to be crazy brawls. Falcao knew that it was Harris who was forced to attack in round 3. Falcao reminded me much of Machida. not the most entertaining fighter but very skilled and smart fighter. I dont like when UFC tries to rate the entertainment higher than the sport. But of course the money is in control. I fear that at some time, entertaining fighters will be rewarded more than the skilled. For example when they brought in Kimbo. Lots of people wanted to see Kimbo and it probably made lots of money for UFC. However I dont think its good for the sports reputation. At least not if you will try to make it something, that the majority of the people will accept as a sport.


Btw, Im a little biased with the main event. I think rampage won round 1 and 2 slightly and Lyoto clearly won the 3rd round. However the first two rounds could clearly have gone 10-10 also and Lyoto could have won the 3rd round 10-8. But the judges seem to be very conservative these days, and we rarely see rounds that are not scored 10-9. Still there is a huge difference on how close a round has been. But in my opinion this really shows once again how important it is that all fights are being made 5 round fights instead of 3, as there are too many close decisions, which could easily have been draws.

On and all the event was pretty good and I really enjoyed the BJ Penn KO. You think we will see him fight more in the welterweight division ?

Btw after missing my 2 earlier competitions, my picks really was terrible. I wasnt aware how dangerous Falcao was and for some reason I thought Matt Hughes would have won. But Im glad that he didnt :D

i was watching it live though so i couldnt rewind or anything...
but it definitely seemed like the 10 second warning was late or the bell was early...
im with you kamara... i think i was on a perfect run till the last 3 fights all fucked me... =\
