The Backstory:
After a meeting at CBS's corporate office, Scott Coker and the Showtime and CBS reps come to a conclusion. "Heavy Artillery" was way down in numbers, "Strikeforce: Nashville" was a disaster in every sense of the word. The in-ring product, the aftermath, the buildup, and the ratings reflected that. With boxing on the upswing and Showtime having its eye on Bellator very closely (a weekly show that builds up to the finals that gains viewers more and more every week?! Who the hell wouldn't want that in an otherwise dead slot??), Strikeforce has once chance to save itself. CBS/Showtime and Strikeforce make a deal:
1. Cancel all your shows ASAP. Challengers 8, Los Angeles, and Fedor vs. Werdum. 2. The reason for this is twofold: Firstly, they need you to put together one gigantic megashow to prove that there are people willing to watch Strikeforce, and your fighters need as much camp time as they can. 3. As a concession of you cancelling your next three cards, CBS and Strikeforce promise to go balls-to-the-wall advertising, promoting, and doing everything they can short of blowing passerbys to make this card work. 4. It comes down to this: CBS/Showtime will put all their eggs in this basket. If it works, we have a long-term deal, if it doesn't, you're gone. Therefore there are no excuses. 5. You have three months. Therefore all your fighters will have plenty of prep time in their camps. The breakdown will be the following:
CBS (8:00-11:00) Showtime (7:00-8:00)
6. You must pick the name, venue, announce team, and card for this event. Do your research, know what works for Strikeforce. 7. You have full access to the Dream roster. 8. Due to time constraints, you can only book a max of three title fights. 9. Five fights should be booked for CBS, two for Showtime, and five preliminaries which will be shown if time allows. 10. This is do-or-die. You need to save your brand, as well as promote the big names and up-and-comers which will fortify it. Book carefully.
Your goal: Book the greatest Strikeforce show you can. Use the Strikeforce and Dream official rosters, eliminate Jake Shields, and save Strikeforce.
