First, off. Kickass event. MOAR PLEASE.I've always wondered why nobody did stuff like Showtime's kick. I've always been of the opinion that the cage is almost completely overlooked and underused. I never made much of an argument of it because A) I'm not a fighter and B) I assumed they knew something I did not.If it were me, I would use the cage as a weapon. It's there. Use it. Showtime's kick was more flash than power, but still pretty damn awesome. Imagine how much power could be generated in a Superman Punch when using your heel to back up and kick off the cage. Over the years, I've though of numerous techniques that could be enhanced by the cage. The kick he used was one I had not thought was possible (using the same foot to jump off the cage and deliver a rainbow of awesomeness forward).
Is it illegal to bring down an elbow from the top of the cage? Maybe it's too difficult to generate that amount of power, because the cage isnt completely stiff, but a bit flexible.
Pettis just used the cage to spin around for the kick, not for launching off the cage. Just a thought though
