Another great night of fights. What first started slow quickly went down to some decent fights on the main card. Well done again to the participants and the winners!
Find all post fight related news to the event right under here.

Spoiler:
Anderson Silva, Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz each earned $75,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday's UFC 148 event.

Silva earned the "Knockout of the Night" award and Griffin and Ortiz picked up "Fight of the Night" honors. With no submissions on Saturday's sold-out pay-per-view card there was no "Submission of the Night" bonus.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the winners and bonus amounts at the night's post-event press conference, where they were announced by UFC president Dana White.

UFC 148 took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event's main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

After being dominated in the first round against Chael Sonnen, Silva defended his middleweight title by stopping Sonnen with a second-round TKO. Sonnen took Silva down six seconds into the fight and kept him down, looking for ground-and-pound. But in the second, Silva took advantage of a Sonnen slip, landed a knee to the body and followed it with strikes to the head while Sonnen covered up.

In the co-main event, Griffin and Ortiz completed the rubber match of their trilogy with a back-and-forth battle that saw Griffin win a close unanimous decision, 29-28 on all three judges' scorecards. The fight was Ortiz's last before retirement.

Spoiler:
Forrest Griffin has had strange nights in the octagon before. But Saturday may have raised the bar.

After his UFC 148 win over Tito Ortiz – before he even was announced the winner – Griffin bolted the cage and started running back toward the locker room. The early exit prompted UFC president Dana White to leave his cageside seat to chase Griffin down and send him back to the cage.

But if that wasn't enough, Griffin returned to the octagon, got his hand raised, then took the microphone from Joe Rogan and interviewed Ortiz himself. It was a set of circumstances that drew the ire of both White and Ortiz – and had the sell-out crowd at MGM Grand Garden Arena booing.

UFC 148 took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and featured a main-event middleweight title fight between champion Anderson Silva and top contender Chael Sonnen. The main card aired on pay-per-view; prelims aired on Facebook and FX.

"He drives me crazy, this guy," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) at the post-event news conference. "It's like professional suicide, the things he does. People love Forrest Griffin. So I ran after him. I mean, do I really have to tell you guys what I said to him?"

White said he continued his conversation with Griffin, the first winner of "The Ultimate Fighter" and, like Ortiz, a former light heavyweight champion, before the news conference began.

"I met him back in the hall and I said, 'What are you doing? What's wrong with you? Are you mental?' And he said, 'I was really depressed.' And I said, 'The next time you're depressed about winning a fight, go in the back and be depressed.' It's Tito's last night, stand there, get your hand raised or Tito's hand raised, do your interview and if you're bummed out go do it in the back.

"And if you're bucking for Joe Rogan's (expletive) job, it ain't gonna happen. That's Joe's job. Leave the microphone alone until Joe comes over to talk to you. I love Forrest Griffin. I always have. He's a great guy. But he gets a little kooky sometimes."

Ortiz, who had announced his retirement weeks prior to the fight, and who had been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame earlier in the day at the UFC Fan Expo, took exception to Griffin deciding to interview him.

"That was bull(expletive)," Ortiz said. "You've got to understand, 15 years ago Joe Rogan was the first person to interview me. I told him, 'I'm going to make a mark in this sport.' I helped build the sport that built me into the person I am today. For Forrest to step in and do the thing he did, after running? … I wish Joe Rogan would have interviewed me, but that's what we've got a press conference for."

Ortiz's remarks on Griffin stealing the thunder from his retirement sendoff came just as Griffin was walking into the news conference. Griffin offered his apologies for the incident, though Ortiz sat stone-faced on the dais while he did so.

"I sincerely apologize," Griffin said. "I can see you guys have got a ton of history and I apologize. I wish I could take that back. I'm sorry."

Regardless of the pair of incidents, or how much he may have alienated Ortiz, White or fans, Griffin had a good night from a financial standpoint. As MMAjunkie.com first reported Friday, Griffin made $275,000 for his win over Ortiz – $125,000 to show and an additional $150,000 win bonus. Additionally, he made an extra $75,000 for "Fight of the Night," bringing his total to $350,000. Ortiz pocketed $250,000 as a flat fee, plus the extra $75,000 in bonus money.

Spoiler:
By vanquishing chief rival Chael Sonnen at Saturday night's UFC 148 event, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (32-4 MMA, 15-0 UFC) moved one step closer to cleaning out the company's 185-pound division.

In the past, every Silva win meant post-fight questions regarding a potential bout with welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre, but nowadays, MMA fans and pundits alike only want to know if "The Spider" will ever face 205-pound titleholder Jon Jones.

Both Silva and Jones have expressed no interest in such a superfight, but UFC president Dana White doesn't seem quite so sure.

"He said he wouldn't fight Chael again, either," White said with a smile following Saturday night's post-event press conference.

Silva, of course, first defeated Sonnen in August 2010 at UFC 117. Sonnen then spent the next two years berating Silva, his family and his countryman until finally earning a rematch in the headliner of Saturday's UFC 148 event, which took place at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena and aired on pay-per-view. Of course, Silva only accepted the fight after ample encouragement from the UFC boss, who admitted Silva wanted no part of granting Sonnen the limelight that came along with a rematch.

White admitted he's been forced to take similar actions in the past, including Silva's previous forays to light heavyweight in wins over Forrest Griffin and James Irvin.

"The two times he went to 205, it wasn't because he wanted to," White said. "It was because I asked him to."

White and Silva haven't always been on the best of terms. The champ's infamous UFC 112 win over Demian Maia left the UFC boss so frustrated he threatened to cut his champion, even after a win. However, the UFC boss insisted on Saturday that he has the utmost respect for Silva and actually enjoys the process of determining his future matchups.

"Anderson is such a unique guy to deal with," White said. "It's such a different process when I'm dealing with this guy. I respect him so much. I swear to God, it's like dealing with an artist. It's like dealing with an artist or some big, crazy-talented actor.

"But I love being involved in every aspect of the business with this guy. I love to watch him fight. I love the anticipation and the build-up. To watch this guy do what he does is seriously one of my favorite [expletive] parts of my job. I love it. This guy is my favorite fighter. He really is. And as hard as he is to deal with, I just love it. I love dealing with him."

But with Silva's incredible track record in the octagon – 15-consecutive wins and an unparalleled 10 successful defenses of the middleweight belt – many fans are concerned there are simply no realistic challenges remaining for the champ at 185 pounds.

White is quick to point out names like Michael Bisping, Hector Lombard and Mark Munoz as potential future opponents for Silva and also thinks there's something to be said for a fighter that continuously devours his competition.

"He's our Mike Tyson," White said. "The guy is unstoppable, unbeatable. Now it's like, 'Who can challenge him? Who can beat him?' I don't know. Let's find out. The first time they fought, no one thought Chael would do that."

But if those names are scratched off the list, as well, and if Jones gets by Dan Henderson in September and then whoever else the UFC deems fit at 205 pounds, is a potential Silva vs. Jones superfight at least a possibility, despite the two champions' insistence that they're not interested?

"Let's see what happens," White said with a wry smile.

Spoiler:
Anderson Silva ran through Chael Sonnen at UFC 148, defending the middleweight title for the tenth time. And if it depends on his excitement, he will have dozen more wins on his record.

At the post-fight press conference, the Brazilian says he does not plan to retire any time soon.

“I love doing it, I’ve been doing it since I was 10. Every time I set my training camp it pleases me I can be part of this select group of fighters. While I have the strength physical and mentally, I’ll do what I love to do, I’ll do it”, said, revealing the wish of fighting for 10 more years.

“I’m very motivated. The fact I’m here, doing what I love… Everybody had the privilege to see at the weigh-n something never seen in history. My greatest motivation is to be here with this guys who are part of history, like Tito (Ortiz). Before I even started Tito was making history”.

Anderson reinforced the invitation for Chael Sonnen to go for a barbecue at his place, and complimented his opponent’s performance. However, he guaranteed to have left the American to play his game on the first round, when had his guard broke and saw his opponent getting the mount.

“Chael came to fight and to do what he does best: take me down. The difference this time was that I wasn’t injured. My game plan was letting him do what he does best, lock him on his own game and then strike”, explains, assuring there are no hard feelings.

“I feel great to be able to do my job, being here and give fans joy like we did today. Chael did his work, just like we did. Unfortunately, some win and some lose. It’s normal. We’re here to puto n a geat show for you guys”.

Anderson still doesn’t know what’s next for him

The good performance of Anderson Silva over Chael Sonnen impressed, and UFC organization has no plans for another challenger at the champion’s title.

“It was a great fight. Let’s sit and talk about it. There are still some fights to come and we’ll decide who the next challenger is. I honestly don’t know”, shoots UFC president Dana White, at the UFC 148 post-fight press conference.

Questioned about who would deserve a chance at the title, Anderson answered straight: “Do you really wanna know the answer to this question?”, wondered.

Even Dana White got curious, asking the champion who his next opponent might be.

“My clone”, answered the number one of the world, with a smile on his face.

“Oh, this clone thing again (laughs)”, joked the bos.

Hector Lombard, former Bellator champion, seems like a possible candidate, just like Mark Munoz, Chris Weidman, Michael Bisping and Vitor Belfort.

UFC will not force Anderson x Jones

Number one at the middlewight division, Anderson Silva tried to fight on the light heavyweight division for a couple of times, knocking out James Irvin and Forrest Griffin, but made it clear his next fight will be at the middleweight class. At 148 post-fight press conference, Dana White seemed to have gotten that message.

“I never tell the guys to go down or up. Anderson is the best in the sport. I guess he’s the best MMA fighter ever”, highlights the boss.

Many fans dream about seeing a bout between Anderson Silva and Jon Jones, current light heavyweight division, but it might never happen.

“Unless someone calls me saying they want to change… He doesn’t want to. He fought there a couple of times. He never had problems cutting weight. He likes this division and he dominates it”.

Spoiler:
With his win over Patrick Cote (18-8 MMA, 4-8 UFC) at Saturday's UFC 148 event, Cung Le (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) may already have his next fight in the works.

Le, a 40-year-old former Strikeforce champion, picked up his first UFC victory following a promotional-debut loss to Wanderlei Silva in November.

With Le now back in the win column, UFC president Dana White wants him to return for UFC on FUEL TV 6, which takes place Nov. 10 in Macau.

The UFC recently announced it's heading to the special administrative region of China for the first time. Currently, no fights are booked for the fall card, but White hopes the South Vietnamese-born Le will be involved.

Le, who also has a burgeoning film career, has averaged just one MMA fight per year since 2007. Following his Cote victory, which came via unanimous decision, Le mentioned the possibility of taking some time off to heal and reassess his situation.

"I'm just going to enjoy this win right now and just heal up and see what happens," he said.

The Sanshou kickboxer's English couldn't have been any clearer, but White decided to offer a translation anyway.

"What he meant was, 'I'm going to go back, get back in the gym, and I'd love to fight in China,'" White joked. "I'm translating for Cung."

Le simply played along.

"I'm going to go back in the gym and get ready for China," a smiling Le said.

White didn't mention a possible opponent, but there's one obvious candidate: Rich Franklin. Before he was tapped to replace Vitor Belfort and won the UFC 147 headliner against Wanderlei Silva, Franklin (29-6 MMA, 14-5 UFC) was slated to fight Le at UFC 148. Now, both Le and Franklin – who are at least a few more wins away from serious title contention – need marketable opponents, which they would provide for each other.

Both are on the tail end of their careers, and Franklin, who dabbled at light heavyweight in recent years, has announced his intentions of staying at middleweight. The timing is right, and the initial announcement of their matchup was met with largely positive reactions.

So perhaps now is the time to rebook it.

Spoiler:
Quote:
"Any time you're a part of training camp or you're friends with somebody and they lose, you just worry about them like, how are they gonna handle it mentally? Are they gonna come back from this? You know, I don't know what Chael's plans are, but I got a feeling he's done fighting. I don't know. I've just got a feeling he's done. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think he was serious when he said, 'If you beat me, I will leave forever,' and there's a very good chance of that."

Spoiler:
Saturday night, ormer UFC middleweight title challenger Demian Maia dropped down to 170, and fought "The Stun Gun" Dong Hyun Kim, in what was expected to be a gripping match up of Jiu-Jitsu vs. Judo.

It ended in less that a minute; the cause was not apparently clear, beyond that Kim was experiencing tremendous pain in his torso.

Kim's translator Brian Rhee came on The Underground, and detailed what went wrong.

Stun Gun Kim's Injury

From: Shug

KZ and I went to the hospital yesterday to meet with Stun Gun's team and heard the whole story. The injury actually occurred about 30 seconds into the fight when the fighters were on the opposite side (from where the fight ended) of the octagon. Maia had one of Stun Gun's legs, which is a position that he actually likes.

As they were tied up, somehow Stun Gun got a muscle spasm in his side. He told his corner that something was wrong.

Kim defended Maia's takedown attempts for a while, but by the time they got to the other side of the Octagon, he was in too much pain.

The position in which the injury happened is the kind that happens in training all the time, but for some reason it caused a severe muscle spasm this particular time. It truly was a freak accident.

It's a terrible way to lose a fight and Stun Gun is really bummed out about it. I'm sure he'll be back and going strong soon enough, though!

Actually I did. I am Brazilian but can't stand Anderson Silva, was really hoping Sonnen would take his title.
BTW the knee was illegal, not to mention the shorts grabbing.

wow! so there are some brazilian that want to see silva loose... well, i just see that anderson cheated (greasing his body) when bruce buffer was introducing him. he's actually smart, he knows that it is the time to do it so no one would interrupt him. to sum up, i see that only strikers who have chance to beat silva.

Actually many brazilians want Anderson to lose, not the new fans who just started watching (as our biggest tv channel began supporting the UFC) but those who follow the sport since some time ago and have seen his questionable antics many times before. I've heard about some old poll in a Brazilian website in which almost 50% of the fans wanted him to lose. Nowadays this number will surely be really small, due to this new influx of watchers.
