Odd injuries continue to plague the UFC, as Mark Hunt became the second major star to suffer a gruesome toe injury at UFC 160.

The "Super Samoan" found himself on the wrong side of a highlight reel in his bout with Junior Dos Santos on Saturday night.

Dos Santos, who was in control throughout the bout, threw a lazy jab to get Hunt's attention before following up with a spectacular spinning back heel kick that helped earn him the knockout at 4:18 of the third round.

After the fight, Hunt hopped on Facebook to thank fans and give an update on his condition:

thanks for the support apologies about the result junior was to slick for me,got a broken toe first round, and had no movement, but like i said before if i am going out i am out on my back thanks again 1luv.

Most of us are still struggling to get over the disturbing images of UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones' toe injury from a month ago.

There is no word yet on what actually caused Hunt's injury, but it was obvious his movement was hindered to some degree midway in the first round.

Early in the round, the stand-up exchanges seemed fairly even between the two heavyweights. Hunt looked sharp moving around the pocket and mixing things up with kicks and punches. It was as if Hunt hit a wall later in the round, as he suddenly became stagnant and one-dimensional.

While this unfortunate injury casts a dark cloud over the co-main event, some credit has to still be given to Dos Santos' incredible performance. He implemented a well-rounded game plan and found a way to crack one of MMA's most legendary chins.

Hunt should look at this loss as nothing more than a minor setback.

After the incredible run he's had in the UFC, a loss to a world-class heavyweight like Dos Santos is nothing to hang his head over.
