The Ultimate Fighter is moving to back to the middle of the week as TUF 17: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen will air on Tuesdays.
UFC officials have not confirmed the new day, but an advertisement in the new issue of "UFC 360" magazine indicated the long-running reality show will debut on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 9 p.m. ET. Episodes of the series aired on Friday nights the previous two seasons, which were the first two on cable channel FX since the UFC signed a broadcast deal with the FOX network.
The ratings had started to take a dip and FX executive Chuck Saftler recently revealed the plans to move it to another night.
The first 14 seasons of TUF aired on Spike TV, where it ran on Wednesday nights for many years.
Filming for the show’s 17th season, which pits light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen as opposing coaches, began in October and will conclude before the end of the year. It is expected to feature middleweight fighters, though no details about the cast have been revealed.
