With UFC welterweight Rory MacDonald (14-1) calling out Carlos Condit (28-6) for a rematch, and ‘The Natural Born Killer’ acceptance, the Ultimate Fighting Championship looks to have booked that bout for the upcoming UFC 158 event in Montreal.
MacDonald confirmed the news with MMAjunkie.com earlier today during an in studio interview for MMAjunkie Radio.
UFC 158 is expected to take place on March 16, 2013 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event is expected to air via pay-per-view with the Condit vs. MacDonald bout likely set for the main or co-main event.
MacDonald called for the rematch this past weekend following a UFC on FOX 5 win against BJ Penn in Seattle. During the post fight press conference MacDonald stated that in his first meeting with Condit that he “was embarrassed, I was embarrassed about my performance and how I held myself.”
The two fighters met at UFC 115 in June 2010 with MacDonald controlling the first two rounds but Condit would catch his younger opponent in the third ending things via TKO with seven-seconds on the clock.
Condit will enter the fight having lost the UFC interim welterweight title to champ Georges St-Pierre who unified the belts at UFC 154 last month in Montreal.
