Silva wants UFC super-fight with GSP next!

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva wants a super-fight with UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, even if GSP loses to Carlos Condit later this year.

In an interview with SporTV in Brazil, Silva said: “Regardless of who wins, even if St-Pierre loses, a fight with me can happen. A fight like this is above anything else. St-Pierre is one of the greatest of the UFC. Right now, a fight with Condit is meaningless."

Although it’s not yet official, St-Pierre is expected to fight interim 170-pound belt-holder Condit in a title unification bout at UFC 154 in Montreal on Nov. 17.

Silva recently defeated Chael Sonnen for a second time at UFC 148 and is currently without an opponent. Although fighters like Chris Weidman, Alan Belcher and Michael Bisping are near the top of the 185-pound division, there is no clear No. 1 contender and Silva is in no rush to get back in the Octagon. However, he did offer his services to headline UFC 151 after Dan Henderson was injured and Jon Jones wouldn’t take a fight against Chael Sonnen, but the UFC instead outright cancelled the Sept. 1 show.

On Tuesday St-Pierre received his official medical clearance to compete in mixed martial arts again. The Canadian superstar, who trains out of the Tristar gym in Montreal, had reconstructive knee surgery in December after tearing his ACL and his internal meniscus while training last fall.

I'm now medically cleared to compete in professional mixed martial arts events- Rendez-vous le 17 novembre, @ufc 154, Montréal!!!

Before he begins preparing for Condit, the 31-year-old said Wednesday he plans on relaxing for a bit.

I’m taking a few days off - Training camp starts next week.

A super-fight between Silva and GSP is something fans have speculated about for years as the two are considered by many to be the two best pound-for-pound fighters in MMA.

If the fight occurs it’s believed the bout will either take place at a 178-pound catchweight, or St-Pierre would move up to middleweight and they would compete for Silva’s belt.
