One Fighting Championship has produced only a single event, but in the time since its Sept. 3 debut, the Singapore-based organization has formed partnerships with more than a dozen Asia-Pacific allies. Now, the region’s highest-profile MMA promoter has joined that list.
One FC officials announced today that the company has entered into a “mutually exclusive partnership” with leading Japanese promotion Dream. Sherdog.com first reported on the possible alliance in late October, when One FC announced the formation of the 18-member One Asia Partnership Network.
“Dream and One Fighting Championship will work together to lead the sport of MMA in Asia to a better future,” Dream Event Producer Keiichi Sasahara said in a statement. “Dream has some of the best fighters in the world and we also have deep experience in putting on world-class events. One Fighting Championship has the largest media platform in Asia and many other assets. I see many great synergies with this partnership. It is certainly a new era for everyone in Asian MMA.”
“Dream is the most prestigious event in Japan,” stated Victor Cui, One FC CEO and owner. “I am truly excited by the potential of this partnership to create new opportunities for fighters, gyms, sponsors, advertisers and media partners.”
Specific terms of the Dream-One FC partnership remain scant, but an official release issued Monday stated that the companies have agreed to “co-promote events and ... fighter exchanges.” The first such co-promotion has been tentatively slated for March 31 at Singapore Indoor Stadium, while future events will take place in Japan.
Meanwhile, One FC is expected to stage its second show Feb. 11 at Kelapa Gading Sports Mall in Jakarta, Indonesia. The fight card has yet to be announced.
