Background
An eight-man heavyweight tournament will commence its opening round at this event, however it's unknown what position the tournament bouts would take on the card.
Tim Sylvia was originally expected to face Pedro Rizzo in the main event on this card. However, a partial tear of his left triceps tendon forced Rizzo to withdraw from the bout. German MMA fighter Andreas Kraniotakes will step in as a replacement.
Also on the card is the co-main event involving former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski taking on veteran of over 300 fights Travis Fulton.
The Illinois athletic commission briefly did not approve Kraniotakes due to the lack of sanctioned fights on his pro record, but they ultimately allowed him to compete. The event will be broadcast live on HDNet.
