Judges in Nevada now have another tool at their disposal for UFC events.
Today during a meeting in Las Vegas, the Nevada State Athletic Commission unanimously approved the promotion's request to install seven-inch monitors next to judges' seats.
The monitors will be used at all future UFC events, including UFC 130, which takes place May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The UFC recently has requested and won permission to use monitors in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Philadelphia for UFC 131 and UFC 133, respectively. Nevada approved the measure with a 5-0 vote.
Cageside monitors have been used at the request of the California State Athletic Commission for three separate UFC events: UFC on Versus 2, UFC 117 and UFC 121.
"It's just another tool for the judges," UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner told MMAjunkie.com (

The monitors, which are provided by the UFC, are attached to a movable arm and can be shoved aside if a judge elects not to use them. Ratner said they supplement a judges' view when the action drifts to the side of the cage that's furthest away.
The feeds shown on each venue's video boards also will be shown on the video monitors. The feed will be pulled between rounds.
