Post subject:  Buentello out of Bellator 42 headliner, Mann vs. Arocho takes main-card spot

A back injury has forced Paul Buentello (29-13 MMA, 0-0 BFC) out of Saturday's Bellator 42 main event and his non-title with heavyweight champion Cole Konrad (7-0 MMA, 5-0 BFC).

MMAjunkie.com today confirmed the change with event sources, who said the bout will be rebooked for a later date.

Despite the loss of that bout, a featherweight fight between Ronnie Mann (18-2-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC) and Josh Arocho (13-9 MMA, 0-0 BFC) has been added to the night's MTV2 broadcast.

Bellator 42 takes place at Lucky Star Casino in Concho, Okla.

In addition to Mann vs. Arocho and the two semifinal bouts of the organization's season-four light-heavyweight tournament, a preliminary-card fight is expected to be promoted to Saturday's main card. A bantamweight fight between Jerod Spoon (5-1-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC) and highly regarded Luiz "Betao" Nogueira (10-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC) appears to be the leading candidate.

The extent of Buentello's injury wasn't immediately known. The veteran fighter, who's competed with organizations such as the UFC and Strikeforce, was slated to make his Bellator debut at Saturday's show. Konrad, the organization's season-three tournament winner, won't get a replacement opponent and instead will wait for Buentello to return.

Mann, meanwhile, was expected to fight Arocho at Bellator 40 earlier this month, but the British fighter and Japanese-fight-circuit veteran's visa issues prompted the delay.

At 17 years old, the U.K.-based Mann made his pro MMA debut and went undefeated over his first 12 fights. The former Cage Gladiators champion is 7-1 over his past eight fights, and the lone loss came to eventual tourney finalist Hatsu Hioki in World Victory Road's 2009 Sengoku featherweight grand prix.

His opponent, Arocho, has been fighting professionally since 2005. Despite opening his career with three consecutive defeats – including losses to tough competition in Clay French and Alvin Robinson – he since has righted the ship and currently is riding a five-fight win streak. Four of the victories have come via first-round submission.
