UFC hosts first-ever international fan expo in London in October
The UFC will hold its first-ever European-based MMA exposition in conjunction with October's UFC 120 event, the organization today announced.
As MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mmajunkie.com) first reported UFC Fan Expo London 2010 will be held Friday and Saturday, October 15-16, at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre with meet-and-greet sessions with UFC fighters, MMA demonstrations, fan-inspired special events, training and development sessions, and other activities.
Featuring a middleweight contest between Michael Bisping and Yoshihiro Akiyama, UFC 120 takes place October 16 at the O2 Arena in London.
UFC Fan Expo London 2010 will be the fourth expo in the company's history. The first-ever expo took place in Las Vegas in conjunction with UFC 100. The second expo, UFC Fan Expo 2010, took place in Las Vegas this past May the same weekend as "UFC 114: Rampage vs. Evans." The third UFC Fan Expo is scheduled for August in Boston.
"I am excited to bring a UFC Fan Expo to our incredible fans in Europe," UFC president Dana White stated in today's release. "People have been asking me about an international expo ever since we held our first one at UFC 100, and now they have it – they’re getting two days of the best fan experience in all of sports, and on top of that an incredible fight card featuring Michael Bisping vs. Akiyama."
The UFC once again teams up with Reed Exhibitions for the expo.
The organization expects to attract more than 100 companies and brands for the first European-based UFC Fan Expo, which will span more than 20,000 square meters of space. The businesses will range from apparel to electronic gaming to sports equipment to nutritional supplements and other MMA-related companies.
According to White, the May expo drew an estimated 125,000 fans to the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
