After a long period of ambiguity, Strikeforce officials have confirmed that the main event will be for Overeem's Heavyweight Championship, which he has never defended since winning it in November 2007.

Bobby Lashley, who was originally set to fight on the Strikeforce: Nashville card, was rumored to have a fight on this card, however he is on the card for Strikeforce: Los Angeles now.

Norifumi Yamamoto was originally announced to fight Federico Lopez on the card, but was later pulled out by DREAM.
