"The Ulitmate Fighter 10" runner-up Brendan Schaub (5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) meets fellow heavyweight Chris Tuchscherer (18-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in July at UFC 116.

At least one competitor has signed a bout agreement for the July 3 fight, a source close to the event told MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mmajunkie.com). MMA reporter Joe Ferraro first reported the possibility of the fight on Twitter.

UFC 116 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and airs on pay-per-view.

UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar meets interim title-holder Shane Carwin in the headliner of the Independence Day weekend event.

Schaub looks for his second consecutive win following a quick, 47-second TKO of Chase Gormley at UFC on Versus 1 in March. The former Buffalo Bills practice-squad member has now posted knockout wins in every career victory. None of the wins has lasted more than 87 seconds.

The only blemish on Schaub's record is his KO loss to Roy Nelson at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale in December.

Tuchscherer, meanwhile, looks to build off a majority-decision win over Tim Hague at UFC 109. Prior to that fight, the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy and NCAA Division II All-American wrestler made his promotional debut and suffered a bizarre first-round TKO loss to Gabriel Gonzaga after taking a kick to the groin. The UFC 102 fight took place in Oregon, and officials wouldn't tell Tuchscherer how much (if any) time he had to recover. Still dazed and dry heaving from the illegal kick, he quickly returned to the fight and suffered the loss soon after.

A middleweight bout between Nate Marquardt (29-9-2 MMA, 8-3 UFC) and Alessio Sakara (15-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) will be part of UFC 116.

Marquardt looks to rebound from a unanimous-decision loss to Chael Sonnen at UFC 109. The loss, which propelled Sonnen to a title shot, snapped Marquardt's three-fight win streak (all of which came via knockout) and delivered a setback in his quest for a second title shot against current champ Anderson Silva.

The Team Jackson fighter now meets Sakara, who's quietly amassed a three-fight win streak with knockout victories over Joe Vedepo and James Irvin and a split-decision win over Thales Leites. Prior to the recent streak, the American Top Team fighter went just 2-4 in the UFC and was on the verge of being dropped by the promotion.
