Joe Doerksen (44-12 MMA, 1-5 UFC) will step in on short notice to face Tom Lawlor (6-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) in a middleweight match-up at the top of UFC 113's non-televised card.

Sources close to the event today confirmed the change to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) and said Lawlor's original opponent, Tim Credeur, has been forced to withdraw from the fight due to an undisclosed injury.

UFC 113 takes place May 8 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and features a light heavyweight title rematch between current champ Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. It's the promotion's third trip to the Canadian province and the third sellout in as many visits.

Doerksen, a Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada native, is currently riding a four-fight win streak and fought most recently at Sengoku 10, where he defeated Takenori Sato by second-round knockout.

An eleven year veteran of the sport, the 32-year-old Doerksen has over 50 fights on his resume and served two UFC stints and in August 2007 made an unsuccessful bid for the WEC middleweight championship against Paulo Filho.

Doerksen has taken several UFC fights on short notice and struggled inside the octagon. In his most recent stint, he went 0-2 with losses to Ed Herman and Jason MacDonald.

Lawlor, 27, gave a valiant three-round effort in his most recent octagon performance against Aaron Simpson at UFC Fight Night 20 but fell short on the judges' scorecards. In spite of the loss, the Orlando, Fla., resident was awarded a "Fight of the Night" bonus that netted him an extra $30,000.

Prior to the setback, Lawlor racked up wins over Kyle Kingsbury (at light heavyweight) and C.B. Dollaway at UFC 100. He served as a cast member of "The Ultimate Fighter 8" and was eliminated by show winner Ryan Bader in the quarterfinals.
