A ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Championship bout between current champion Tye Ruotolo and Dante Leon is scheduled at the event. The pairing met for the first time in Liverpool, England in 2020, where Leon won by decision. Their second meeting took place at FloGrapping promotion in 2021, which Ruotolo won by guillotine choke.
The world’s most action-packed warriors are looking to deliver the performances of a lifetime at ONE Fight Night 31: Kongthoranee vs. Nong-O II, which broadcasts live in U.S. primetime on Friday, May 2, from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.
In the main event, two of the greatest Muay Thai practitioners on the planet will stand toe-to-toe in what promises to be a rematch for the ages.
Just three months ago, multi-time Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion Kongthoranee Sor Sommai shocked fans when he narrowly defeated former longtime ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama via split decision to spoil the legend’s flyweight debut.
With that technical and explosive battle being so close, both strikers want to fight for a more definitive result. Kongthoranee aims to prove his victory wasn’t a fluke and defend his #3 spot in the divisional rankings, while Nong-O is hungry for a slice of redemption.
In the co-main event, BJJ megastar Tye Ruotolo will defend his ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Title against two-time IBJJF No-Gi World Champion Dante Leon. The two sensations have been flawless in their promotional runs, but only one of them can leave Lumpinee Stadium with 26 pounds of gold and a spotless record in ONE.
