Background

The pairings for the K-1 WORLD GP 2024 Western Europe Open Weight Qualifier Tournament for the K-1 WORLD GP 2024 in Sicily to be held in Italy on Saturday, July 27, 2024 (local time) have been decided.

The winner of this tournament will be eligible to participate in the Final Tournament, a one-day tournament of eight open weight fighter-class fighters at the K-1 WORLD GP 2024 in Tokyo to be held on Saturday, December 14 at Yoyogi Daiichi Gymnasium in Tokyo.

The Eastern Europe Open Weight Qualifier Tournament for the K-1 Bosnia Tournament, held on June 30, was a series of upsets, with Milos Cvečkanin of Serbia winning and securing his place in Tokyo.

This is the first time since 2008 that a K-1 certified tournament has been held in Italy, but the last time was in 2003, so this is the first time in 21 years that it has been held. Former K-1 MAX champion Giorgio Petrosyan, an Armenian immigrant with Italian nationality, was a star fighter from the country, and made his name known around the world.
