Background

The Ultimate Warrior Challenge Mexico (UWC) Middleweight Championship will be at stake for the first time this decade at the event to be held on Sunday, July 2 at the Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno Auditorium.

The 185-pound belt has been vacant since the company's return to activity in 2019 and will be up for grabs between two distinguished fighters from Latin America for the UWC 45 show.

Ricardo Chavez will go up versus Antonio Gordillo de Catamarca, Argentina, for the Middleweight Championship of the Ultimate Warrior Challenge Mexico (UWC), in the show to take place on Sunday, July 2, at the famous Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno Auditorium.

Chavez from Naucalpan de Juárez, State of Mexico, is one of the most active Mexicans in professional Mixed Martial Arts (AMM) and will be in the UWC cage for the second time.

After his first fight at UWC 35, this on June 24, 2022, Chávez has added another five victories to his professional record to now stand at 21-16-0 and is ranked as the best Mexican at 185 pounds.

At 29 years old, "Woody" has become a rival sought by various companies, and to that is added his outstanding role as an amateur where he accumulated a 25-1-1 record, hence this golden opportunity.

Since the beginning of the year we saw the possibility of reviving this championship and Chávez was immediately seen as one of the challengers, since he has not stopped training and being active in the sport," said the UWC president Islas.

For the first time in its history, the Ultimate Warrior Challenge Mexico (UWC) company will hold two professional events in the same month, the first being UWC 45 on Sunday, July 2.

The world of Mixed Martial Arts (AMM) has grown in recent years, especially in Mexico, and for this reason the longest-running Mexican company in the sport will hold two functions in July.

“We are going to try something new with UWC 45 since it will be on Sunday, before the pandemic all our functions were on Saturday, and since we are in UFC Fight Pass they have been changed to Friday.

"Now, at the suggestion of the UFC Fight Pass team, we are going to try our luck on a Sunday since the month of June is a month with many busy dates for transmission, it will also be a little earlier than normal," said Alejandro Islas.
