UFC 113: Patrick Cote returns against Alan Belcher in Montreal on May 1

Former number one middleweight contender, Patrick Cote, will return after nearly 20 months on the sidelines to tangle with Alan Belcher at UFC 113 from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on May 1, 2010, according to TopMMANews.com.

"The Predator" has not competed since since shredding his knee while inside the Octagon opposite reigning division champion Anderson Silva at UFC 90 way back in October 2008.

The bout resulted in a technical knockout loss for the Canadian, which he feels may have gone his way if the freak accident never happened. The 185-pound class is now teeming with possible title contenders, making his road back to the summit more than likely a long and difficult one.

Cote underwent major ACL knee surgery following his loss to "The Spider" and then again in late summer 2009 to repair a damaged MCL (in the same knee). How effective he'll be coming off a major injury coupled with nearly two years of inactivity remains to be seen.

And don't expect any mercy from Alan Belcher.

Star-divide

"The Talent" posterized Wilson Gouveia via first round technical knockout at UFC 107: "Penn vs. Sanchez" just last month. It was redemption for the Biloxi-native who came up on the wrong end of a controversial split-decision at the hands of Yoshihiro Akiyama in their "Fight of the Night" at UFC 100.

Belcher has been able to show flashes of greatness inside the Octagon -- yet has trouble keeping his momentum. After ten fights under the Zuffa banner he stands at 6-4 and has been unable to string together more than two wins consecutively.

Still, he's as dangerous as anyone on the feet and a very stiff test for Cote's return.

UFC 113 features the much-anticipated rematch between 205-pound division champion, Lyoto Machida, defending his belt against fellow Brazilian Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the main event of the evening.

Good match up ....cote been out a while belcher looked good last fight.....is belcher the ric flair fan that shouts woooooo on way to octagon or is that spencer fisher? always get them muddled up.
