Strikeforce / M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Silva is an upcoming mixed martial arts event. It is expected to take place on February 12th, 2011 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This event will be broadcast live on Showtime.

* Heavyweight Grand Prix quarterfinal bout: Russia Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brazil Antonio Silva
* Heavyweight Grand Prix quarterfinal bout: Belarus Andrei Arlovski vs. Russia Sergei Kharitonov
* Heavyweight Grand Prix reserve bout: United States Shane Del Rosario vs. United States Lavar Johnson
* Heavyweight Grand Prix reserve bout: United States Chad Griggs vs. United States Gianpiero Villante
* Heavyweight Grand Prix reserve bout: Netherlands Valentijn Overeem vs. New Zealand Ray Sefo

Preliminary card (HDNet)

* Lightweight bout: United States Marc Stevens vs. United States John Cholish
* Welterweight bout: Brazil Igor Gracie vs. United States John Salgado
* Welterweight bout: United States Sam Oropeza vs. United States Don Carlo-Clauss
* Featherweight bout: United States Anthony Leone vs. United States Josh LaBerge

Background

This event is to mark the beginning of the eight-man Strikeforce World Grand Prix Heavyweight Tournament.

The winner of the Del Rosario-Johnson bout will be the first alternate in the Grand Prix, while the winner of the Sefo-Overeem bout will be the second alternate. The Griggs-Villante bout may determine the third alternate in the tournament.

Andrei Arlovski was expected to face Josh Barnett, but Arlovski will now fight Sergei Kharitonov.

I got the Strikeforce Insider update on this. I'm actually going to be attending the event Live!!!! Tixs go on sale next wednesday, the 12th, at 10am EST. Really excited about it!!! Hopefully I score some up close tickets. :D


UPDATE!!!! Yeah Those tickets were $500 a piece up front!! Forget that!!!!!! I got 2 el cheapo tickets so it cost me about 45$ a ticket in the nosebleed. Still should be good though as I get to see some good fighters including the legend Fedor live!! :D :D :D

Thats pretty sweet. I was thinking about going I live in New England but I'm going to UFC 128 in New Jersey so I don't feel like driving down twice so soon. You should get pretty good seats though I don't know how many people will show up for that. Have fun.
