Anderson Silva appeared on a Brazilian UFC TV show this - ‘UFC No Limits’ - to talk about his recent KO win over Vitor Belfort.
He was asked about the “tension” between himself and Belfort at the weigh-ins, to which he responded with an explanation of why there is animosity from his side towards his fellow Brazilian.
“Vitor trained a long time in our team. Team Nogueira. And we have a code of honour under which we will not fight each other. We spend much more time together than with our own families. Team Nogueira is the product of what Rodrigo has always taught, which is to help one another and always be one united family,” he said.
“Vitor spent a lot of time with us - a long time training with us, we opened the door of our home to him. And he broke this code [by agreeing to fight me]. He went his own way; I have nothing against Vitor but he went his own way.”
The first-round KO win extended Anderson’s record of successful consecutive title defences to eight. His next fight could be a superfight clash at catch weight with UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre - if St. Pierre beats Jake Shields at UFC 129.
